ROOTS REGGAE MUSIC HAS NOT SEEN A BETTER SINGER IN QUITE A FEW YEARS THAN THE SWEET SOUNDS OF BROTHER G. WE ARE PRIVILEGED TO HAVE SUCH A TALENT RIGHT HERE IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA.
Brother was born and raised in Jamaica. He spent his early years in Montego Bay where he was raised by his mother. Later on, he moved with his father to many different locations in Jamaica ranging from urban Kingston to rural Anchovie. This diverse background has given Brother G a depth of knowledge about his native people that is clearly evident throughout his thoughtful lyrics. In the early 80’s, Brother G left Jamaica and relocated to the United States. His early travels included many east coast destinations like New York and Miami where he successfully blended Jamaican culture with American tradition.
In the early 90’s, Brother G moved to Northern California where he currently resides. This move enabled him to further fine tune his craft and gain some real insight to the people of the area. He joined the band Urn-N-Fiya where he traveled around the area singing of love and peace. The band went through many changes over the years while they set the Sacramento reggae scene on fire. People simply could not get enough of Brother G’s smooth sounding voice and dynamic conscious lyrics.
Over time, Urb-N-Fiya changed their name to the River Jordan Band and Brother G made a graceful transition from band member to the favorite lead singer. Their performances drew large crowds and a loyal following in the Sacramento region. Recently, Brother G has concentrated on writing strong lyrics and producing three albums worthy of a long listen.
Over the years, Brother G has worked with many artists including Buju Banton, Burning Spear, Luciano, Culture and Morgan Heritage. Currently, Brother G is working with a new band and will be heading out on the performance scene very soon.
